There is no wrong answer to the question at hand!! And that is fantastic news! Your favorite Fuquay Varina/ Raleigh Photographer is here to tackle this question!
Let's start with summer! Summer before senior year is a wonderful time to take high school senior photos as days are longest, summer clothes are very fashionable and cute, sun kissed/glowy skin, and no school stress is also a major bonus! Beach sessions are fun and never go out of style, or more locally to me, lake sessions. Some cons with summer are of course the heat. Bugs are another con of summertime sessions.
Fall is definitely a more popular season for senior photography. School has just begun, applications to colleges are going out, the senior checklist is in full swing! Fall is great for outdoor sessions: warm colors, fall foliage, and cozy outfits. The temperature is much more comfortable during the fall, which is always a bonus. Fall photos usually fall within the timeline for yearbook deadlines as well. Shorter days is a con for fall photos, but usually the vibrant colors of fall and the amazing lighting make up for that. Having a photographer that knows how to schedule properly makes all the difference!
Winter is probably the least popular, but should not be slept on! Winter months provide a unique backdrop for photos, and when done correctly, can be so fun and playful! Cozy sweaters, holiday themes and even fur coats make winter photos a blast! A photographer with a client closet can be very useful when finding the right outfit for this uncommon senior session timeframe.
Spring. Ah, Spring. Probably the most popular of all for senior photo sessions! Best for colorful, floral backdrops, Mother Nature in full display. Comfortable temperatures, not too hot, not too cold. This is also fantastic timing for students who want to take photos for graduation announcements, or to let the world know their plans for life after high school! Not only are cap and gowns being delivered, but students who plan to continue on to college can bring a shirt for photos as well! On the cons list, we have unpredictable weather (rain) and the fact that seniors tend to be very busy in this season.
A consultation with your photographer will help decide which season would work best for you!
